5 Winter Sports Top Tips

Winter Activity

Cold weather breaks are a fantastic way to enjoy the outdoors during the winter season. With holidays for all group dynamics and activities for all ages, there’s something for everyone on the slopes this season.

So, forget the hustle and bustle of Christmas preparations and escape to a snowy sanctuary, whether you’re skiing or just relaxing, there are memories to be made in the snow.

  1. 1. Dress for success…
It’s always FREEZING, right? Actually, no - if you’re travelling in early winter or early spring, you might not need quite as much protection. Layers will be your friend. Whatever the temperature you’ll need sunscreen. Pick a high factor and apply it, a lot – you don’t want the sunburned panda look.
  2. 2. Get a head start…
If you’re a beginner or you’re travelling with little ones, it might be worth having a few lessons before you leave for your wintery break. Being able to stand upright and stop when you need to, will make all the difference to your first day on the slopes.
  3. 3. Safety…
Goggles, gloves and well-fitting ski boots are a must – but so is a helmet. Granted, a helmet isn’t quite as stylish as a well-coordinated bobble hat, but it could prevent serious injury so it’s worth it.
  4. 4. Know before you go…
Spend a little time researching what your resort offers in the way of equipment hire, unless you plan on making an annual trip, hire is often more cost effective. If you’re travelling with children check if there are kids’ clubs or creche facilities in your resort, just in case the unthinkable happens and they get bored with snow.
  5. 5. Make sure you’re covered…
