Life’s a beach…

Sardinia

When planning a holiday, a seaside destination is often fairly high on people’s list of places to visit. Whether you prefer to fill your time with activities and cover off as much sightseeing as possible or are looking for some relaxing ‘me time’ – holidaying solo, with friends, or with family – the possibilities really are endless if you choose a beach break. Check out five of our favourite coastal destinations in Europe below…

The Algarve

Praia da Benagil: this beach is ever popular with visitors to the region, and for good reason. Holidaymakers are attracted not only to its warm golden sands but also to the incredible views of the coastal terrain. The dramatic sandstone cliffs surrounding this small cove are a sight to behold, not to mention the unique cave formations ready for you to explore by kayak or paddle board. A truly memorable experience.

Dubrovnik

Sunji Beach: situated on the small island of Lopud just off the coast of Dubrovnik, no trip to this area is complete without a visit to Sunj Bay. Lopud is famous in the area for its sandy beaches and Sunji is widely considered to be one of the best. Either hike or grab a taxi to this gorgeous spot, take a swim, kick back on a sun bed or pop into one of the beach-side restaurants for a bite. A stop not to be missed when taking a boat trip around the Elaphiti Islands.

Ibiza

Las Salinas and Cala Xuclar: two beautiful beaches offering the best the Balearic Islands have to offer. If you’re looking for a spot that will keep the party going all day, head to Las Salinas to enjoy miles of soft sand, bars and restaurants right by the water. Frequented by revellers year-round, Las Salinas is the sunniest way to experience the party culture for which Ibiza is so iconic. When it’s time to wind down, head to the other side of the island and relax on Cala Xuclar, a small cove allowing you to ‘get away from it all’ and refresh yourself in the cool, clear water.

Nice

Villefranche-Sur-Mer: a short distance along the coast from Cannes and Antibes, this little pebble beach just outside of Nice is a lovely spot for a scenic walk, a paddle in the sea or enjoying a delicious lunch. This area delivers everything you would expect from a break in the French Riviera – guaranteed perfect weather, stunning coastline, unrivalled views out to sea and an unmistakable sense of glamour. It’s little wonder the south of France remains one of the most popular beach destinations in Europe.

Sardinia

Spiaggia di Tuerredda: while Sardinia is the second largest island in the Mediterranean, it is our first choice when it comes to the Italian beach experience. This small but spacious cove on the south coast of the island makes for a delightful visit, whether you’re looking to rest on a deckchair in the sun or seek out some adventure. A top spot for swimming or snorkelling in the clear blue sea, or for renting a boat for exploring the Isola di Tuerredda, a short distance from the beach.
